PFAS Contamination in Great Lakes Urban Watershed

Recently Mallory Llewellyn a Graduate Assistant here, at the University of Florida collaborated with Jonh Bowden and Tracie Baker both working for the Center for Enviromental and Human Toxicology, and other scientist on her paper entitled “Identification and quantification of novel per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination in a Great Lakes urban-dominated watershed” The paper discusses their findings on the impact of urbanization and wastewater treatment processes. They did their research by collecting samples from 27 location in the Great lakes. These samples included surface water and sediment. The samples were then analyzed for 92 different PFAS. The research indicated the need to expand toxicological research and risk assessment.
