Early-Career Anatomist Publication Awards- The Anatomical Record

Emma Schachner, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiological Sciences at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, where she teaches anatomy to veterinary students. Her research focuses on the evolution of structural and functional diversity in the vertebrate respiratory system.

Emma is honored to receive the Early-Career Anatomist Publication Award. She hopes the association’s recognition of this team-effort manuscript—uniting a diverse group of evolutionary. comparative biologists and clinicians for a holistic investigation of vertebrate lungs—will inspire other teams to pursue systems-based ‘One Health’ research and serve as a roadmap for future clinical and basic science partnerships.
