1st BioSci- award goes to Terry Medrano
The Department of Physiological Sciences proudly recognizes Terry Medrano as the inaugural recipient of the “BioSci of the Quarter” award in honor of her outstanding contributions, unwavering dedication, and exemplary service over the past 35 years at the University of Florida, including 14 years in her current lab.
Terry has been a cornerstone of the lab’s success, known for her meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and tireless work ethic—often going above and beyond, including working on weekends to ensure the lab’s smooth operation. A true expert in Western blotting and genotyping, she has played a critical role in maintaining animal colonies and advancing numerous research projects. Her deep understanding of scientific literature, protocol compliance, and experimental techniques has made her an invaluable resource to faculty and trainees alike.
In addition to her technical prowess, Terry has contributed significantly to manuscript and grant preparation, data presentation, and proofreading. She has mentored and supported generations of postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers, fostering a collaborative and productive lab environment.
As Terry approaches retirement, this award serves as a well-earned capstone to a distinguished career marked by quiet excellence, steadfast reliability, and meaningful impact. Her contributions have left a lasting legacy in the department, and we are honored to recognize her with this award.
